A Journey into The Dante’s Inferno Videogame And Just What It Has To Offer

Released only a few weeks ago, the Dante’s Inferno videogame has brought on a bit of a stir within the gaming society. The subject material, which isvery loosely based on the titular poem, has led to contempt by some and various countries even refused to advertise it. However, this type of notoriety is often a very good factor, as it will get buyers interested in what might be inciting such an outcry.

The Dante’s Inferno videogame storyline tracks Dante as he makes his way through the assorted circles of hell on a journey to reclaim his beloved Beatrice. But as he delves deeper into the pit, worse secrets are revealed and the truth about his journey comes to light. Dante must battle his way through employing Death’s scythe, which he took from the spectre having bested him in single battle!

Right, let’s get this out of the way here- the Dante’s Inferno videogame has been accused of being a plagiarism of the God of War series, to the point at which the combat method is allegedly almost identical. Well, this is actually dependant on your point of view. God of War certainly did not begin the hack and slash style, it just does it best, and thus all subsequent titles will probably be measured against it. If a title can come near emulating God of War surely that is a very good claim?

And the Dante’s Inferno videogame is without a doubt its own master. The combat method is definitely an intricately fashioned tree of prospects as you employ Dante’s two methods of assault; his scythe and holy cross. These weapons can each be levelled up as you advance through hell. Throughout the Dante’s Inferno videogame, Dante will come across lost souls in both battle and non-battle conditions, and the gamer can choose to either punish or absolve them. This can level up either weapons equally.

Hell itself has been nicely realised with the Dante’s Inferno videogame, and there are definitely echoes of EA’s previous horror title- Dead Space. The environment is swarming with writhing damned, impaled prisoners and seas of blood, while the different circles will provide their own slant on things. Journeying through Lust will reveal mutated phallic symbols and darkly seductive enemies, while Greed will display unfortunates sheathed in precious metals.

The Dante’s Inferno Videogame has had a tough ride at the hands of all the God of War fanboys, however it is definitely a great title in its own right. Of course, there are a couple of drawbacks- the title is a little too brief and some of the locales begin to look over familiar, but these problems are cancelled out by an empowering combat method and excellent boss battles and imagery. The Dante’s Inferno Videogame needs to be heralded as a great effort from EA, and I encourage you to check it out.
